How to take this test
Thirty questions in ten minutes gives you about 20 seconds per item. Look for the simplest rule that explains the whole pattern.
- Check one feature at a time. Look at number, position, direction, shading, size, and movement.
- Compare changes, not just pictures. Ask what changed from one frame to the next.
- Test the rule against every step. A rule that explains only one transition is probably not the rule.
- Use elimination quickly. Remove choices that break an obvious feature first.
- Do not invent a complicated rule too early. Start with the simplest consistent transformation.
- Move when the pattern does not reveal itself. At this pace, one long stare can cost several later questions.
