How to take this test

Twenty-five questions in twenty-five minutes gives you about one minute per item. Numerical Ability rewards a quick setup as much as correct arithmetic.

  1. Translate before calculating. Turn the words into a ratio, equation, rate, sequence, or relationship first.
  2. Watch the units. Convert hours and minutes, percentages and decimals, or different measurement units before combining values.
  3. Estimate when you can. A rough expected value can eliminate choices and catch arithmetic mistakes.
  4. Use answer choices strategically. Backsolve or test choices when that is quicker than building a full solution.
  5. Do not wrestle with one item. If the setup is still unclear after a reasonable attempt, mark it and move.
  6. Return to marked questions with the time you saved. Your first pass should collect the items you can solve efficiently.

These are general standardized-test strategies, not official Ateneo test instructions.
