The Outfit Vote is designed primarily for tweens in Grades 5–7. It may also suit an older learner who needs a shorter, less childish reading activity or a younger strong reader who enjoys contemporary stories.

Before the Student Begins
Ask: When friends give different advice, how do you decide which advice to follow?
Do not explain the story's lesson yet. Let the student form an opinion first.
While the Student Reads
Allow the student to answer independently before discussing mistakes. If an answer changes after discussion, ask which detail from the story changed the student's thinking.
After the Activity
