Real detectives do not rely on random guesses. They collect clues, compare evidence, and remove answers that do not fit until only one possibility remains.

About This Free Making Inferences Game

Lino's Lost & Found Agency is a free online detective game created for preschool, kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 learners. Children identify familiar everyday objects by reading three descriptive clues. Each set of clues moves from an object's appearance to its function and then to the place or situation where it is commonly used.

The activity develops reading comprehension, vocabulary, observation, logical reasoning, and making inferences. Younger learners may choose the TAP mode and select an answer from four choices. More experienced readers may choose the TYPE mode and enter their own answer without choices.

After two incorrect attempts, Detective Lino provides an extra clue. Correct answers unlock a short fact and an optional drawing activity, allowing children to create their own LOST poster before continuing to the next case.

How to Play

Ready to Join the Agency?

Accept the mission, choose how you want to answer, and open Case File 001. Drawing the objects is optional, so children may continue directly to the next mystery.

Teacher Tip: Before checking an answer, ask the child to explain which clue helped the most. This strengthens comprehension, vocabulary, and reasoning rather than rewarding random guessing.
