What students and parents should know
The UP College Admission Test is one route to first-year admission to the University of the Philippines. The examination has four subtests: Language Proficiency, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics, and Science. Language and Reading include English and Filipino.
When is UPCAT 2027?
The official UP Office of Admissions schedules the test on August 1–2, 2026. Your test permit identifies your assigned date, test center, and morning or afternoon session.
How long does the UPCAT take?
The official bulletin advises that test administration lasts about five hours. Arrive according to the reporting time on your permit and prepare for one continuous testing session.
What should an examinee bring?
Current official instructions list the printed test permit, school ID or a valid government-issued ID, at least two good-quality pencils, a sharpener, a rubber eraser, water, and snacks. Always follow the latest instructions on your own permit.
Are calculators and phones allowed?
The current official bulletin prohibits cellphones, smartwatches, calculating devices, and cameras during the test.
Does the test score alone determine admission?
No. UP explains that standardized UPCAT scores are combined with the composite of final grades in Grades 8, 9, 10, and 11 to determine the admission score commonly called the UPG. Campus and program availability are also limited.
Does Teacher Abi publish the official UPCAT coverage?
No review provider has an official permanent competency-by-competency blueprint unless UP publishes one. Teacher Abi uses an evidence-based preparation framework and original diagnostic questions to help students review relevant secondary-school competencies.
Focus on readiness, not resource collecting.
UPCAT questions often use familiar school concepts in unfamiliar contexts. Preparation should therefore develop accuracy, reading discipline, reasoning, pacing, and stamina—not only memorization.
If only a few weeks remain, prioritize foundational weaknesses, complete short timed sets, analyze mistakes, and protect your sleep. Use the Student Hub to turn the remaining days into a realistic plan rather than trying to study everything at once.
For Language and Reading, maintain exposure to both English and Filipino. For Mathematics, combine computation with modeling, graphs, and word problems. For Science, connect facts to evidence, mechanisms, experiments, and data interpretation.
Always verify admissions instructions with UP.
Schedules, eligibility rules, application requirements, test centers, and permitted materials can change. Teacher Abi supports academic preparation but does not issue admissions instructions.
