Find the invariant before looking for the exception
An odd-one-out item is a classification problem. Three figures obey the same rule; the answer violates that rule.
Use DESCRIBE → GROUP → TEST → REJECT
- DESCRIBE: list objective features without interpreting them.
- GROUP: propose a rule shared by three figures.
- TEST: verify the rule against all four—not merely a matching pair.
- REJECT: choose the sole violator only when the other three satisfy the complete rule.
