Both table and graph are visual representations of information. They are used to organize information to show relationships. They make understanding the data much easier.
The table presents data using actual numbers. Below is an example of a table. Take note that the title and the headings give you an idea of what the table is about.
Here are some practice questions that we will answer.
What is the table about? By looking at the title of the table, we can say that it is about the number of goods donated for the outreach program.
What kind of goods were donated? Check the table, under the column marked goods, we can see that there are canned goods, rice, medicine, water bottles, and noodles.
Which kind of goods has the most number? Simply check the numbers under the Number column. We can see that the biggest one is 18. It stands for the number of water bottles donated.
How many medicine packs were donated? Just look for the goods marked medicine packs, look to its right to find the corresponding amount. Here, the answer is 6.
How many goods were donated in all? For this problem, you will need to add all the numbers under the Number column. 10 + 12 + 6 + 18 + 14 = 60.
How many more water bottles than bags of rice were donated? For "how many more/less" questions, you will need to find the difference between the two amounts. In this case, we need to subtract 12 (bags of rice) from 18 (water bottles). The answer is 6.
I will be posting worksheets for this lesson asap.
