Freebie Friday - Writing Prompt on Typhoon Preparedness

While my son does answer grammar exercises, he prefers doing writing activities. One of the simplest writing activity that kids can finish in less than an hour is writing using a prompt.  Our country just experienced a couple of strong typhoons resulting to devastating flood. This prompted (see what I did there) us to think of activities that would not only help my son prepare for such emergencies but also to make him write. Below are a couple of writing prompts geared for that. One is in English and the other in Filipino. To keep updated with the latest Aral Tayo material, like and follow us on Facebook. How to Make Online Learning Work for You - Tip #3

When do you schedule your blocked-off study time? Some people work better in the morning, while others prove to be more productive at night. If your synchronous classes are scheduled in the morning but are not a night owl try to carve out a study session before your online class. Now, let us talk about learning styles. Different people grasp new concepts using different strategies. If you think you are a visual learner, listening to a story simply will not help you as much as reading it. Print out a copy or watch a video about it to get the information embedded in your memory more effectively. If you are a kinesthetic learner, you might want to write down your notes, so you can remember the information better. Want to learn more about online learning? How to Make Online Learning Work for You - Tip #2

Studying at home can be awfully hard because there are so many distractions available. If you find yourself skipping doing your school requirements because you were too busy watching tv or checking social media, then it is time to get rid of all the distractions (not permanently, of course). Blocking out distractions can come in different forms. You might find it easier to tune out the things around you with music. If that doesn’t work for you, it might be easier to leave a distracting place and find somewhere quieter to study. You just have to discover which strategy best works for you. Turning off your cell phone might be the hardest thing for you to do but is essential if you keep looking up from your book because of notifications popping up. If this is not something you can do, try installing a website blocker app. Want to learn more about online learning? Please visit our Aral Tayo Facebook page. Need help with your lessons? How to Make Online Learning Work for You - Tip #1

Let's start things off with a Tuesday Tip. Online learning has a lot of pros but it also poses so many cons. How can we make it work for us? Here is a good tip to avoid getting overwhelmed by your asynchronous tasks. With online studying, one's schedule can be very flexible. However, there are also countless distractions that can keep you from just buckling down and getting things done. Pick a time of the day when you plan on doing just your school work and block it off. No distractions, no excuses.
