Strengthen your simple past tense skills
The simple past tense is used to talk about actions and situations that happened or finished in the past. Learning its forms helps learners describe past events more clearly.
Understand how the past tense works
Learning the simple past tense involves more than memorizing verbs. Learners also need to recognize when an action happened and select a verb form that fits the sentence.
Present: I play basketball.
Past: I played basketball yesterday.
Present: She goes to school.
Past: She went to school yesterday.
Notice that play forms its past tense by adding -ed, while go changes to went.

Make grammar practice more meaningful
Maria Talino can be used as a supplementary activity for reviewing the simple past tense and developing familiarity with English verb forms.
Before playing, review a few regular verbs, such as walk → walked, clean → cleaned, and study → studied.
Also discuss irregular verbs such as eat → ate, see → saw, and go → went.
After playing, invite learners to write three sentences about what they did yesterday, using the simple past tense.
