Case 2: The Secret Message in the Bottle

Welcome back, Detective. Emma is helping clean a beach in Batangas. But one old bottle is about to turn an ordinary morning into a mystery.

Mission 1: The Bottle in the Sand

Saturday mornings were Emma's favorite. Once every month, families from different barangays gathered at the beach in Batangas for a community clean-up.

Emma enjoyed looking closely at the sand because every wave brought something different.

As she reached between two large rocks, something unusual caught her eye. It was the neck of an old green glass bottle, almost hidden beneath the sand.

Inside was a tightly rolled piece of weathered parchment. There was no name. No map. Only one sentence:

Begin where the waves cannot reach.

Emma read it twice. “This isn't litter,” she whispered. “This is the beginning of an adventure.”

Mission 3: The Old White Banca

Emma carefully crawled beneath the old banca. Hidden between two wooden supports was a small metal tin.

Across the bottom someone had written: Follow the tide, not the path.

Just then, she heard someone behind her. “Not many children understand that clue.” Emma quickly turned around.

At first, it looked like an ordinary mango shake recipe.

Fresh Mango Shake

Ingredients

2 ripe mangoes, peeled and sliced
1 cup cold milk
1 cup crushed ice
1 spoon of sugar

Directions

Wash the mangoes before slicing them.
Add the mango slices to the blender.
Lower the lid carefully before blending.
Keep blending until the mixture is smooth.
Taste the shake and add sugar if needed.
Open the lid only after the blender stops.
Transfer the shake into clean glasses.
Hold the glass carefully as you pour.
Enjoy the drink while it is cold.
Decorate the top with small mango cubes.
Rinse the blender after using it.
Include a straw if you want one.
Freeze extra mango slices for later.
Tell a friend to try the recipe.
Wipe the table when you are done.
Organize the ingredients before leaving.
Offer some to your family.
Do not forget to clean up.

Emma frowned.

"This recipe is normal," she said. "But why are some letters darker?"

As Emma closed the journal, she noticed one last envelope tucked inside the back cover.
